'08 Open Thread

A steady stream of national Democratic figures, some with obvious presidential aspirations, have visited Ohio in the past few months - Sen. John Kerry, Sen. John Edwards, Sen. Hilary Clinton and Gov. Tom Vilsack. Sen. Joe Biden will speak at our 2006 State Dinner.

So the question is...do you have a favorite? Are you supporting a candidate listed above, or are you considering someone else? Lets hear it!

I'm for Gen. Wesley Clark in '08. I think he has the experience, temperment and judgement without all the "insider DC" baggage. He'll stand up to the right-wing fanatics instead of appeasing them as all too many in DC do. We need someone who will stand up for middle class America and I think Clark is it.

I think either Gore or Kerry would be able to win. I like Gore because he's so damn smart. Kerry ran a good, but not great campaign last time. I think he'd run a better campaign in '08 and be able to win.

Warner would be a good VP pick.

I believe Al Gore will win if he runs again in 2008, he has shown that he has the appeal to win the popular vote, like he did in 2000 and since, he has lost, he has stayed in the spotlight by dedicating himself to special interests, such as the environment. The two main things that will help him in 2008 are the negative perception the GOP has now and in 2008 he will not have to run away from his association with former President Clinton. I hope he takes a serious look at running and I know I will support him.

Besides the obvious front-runners, HRC, JK, John Edw. ?, I like the US Senator from Indiana Evan Bayh. I would call him my dark horse in our speculation. Bayh along with Tom Vilsack, Warner, Clinton have aligned themselves with the DLC. The more I see Evan Bayh the more I am impressed by his oratorical appeal. There is a great link at C-Span.org where Bayh, Warner and Al From are debuting the DLC new nat'l security strategy via a book, Bayh gives a great performance. Also being a former governor he has appeal constituencies the Dem Party is struggling to inspire currently.
